| MCL has its own vision for the city of the Ludhiana. It perceives a
city laced with best of civic amenities, compassionate and acceptable public
relations and an atmosphere with a happening and comfortable of life. The
corporation has certain visionary projects to give a frame of reality to
its perception of the best of city life to its public.
Project for providing drinking water to polluted areas of Ludhiana City The project has been conceived to provide water supply to areas, where the ground water has been polluted due to seepage from Buddha Nallah and from industrial discharge. The scheme includes a distributing system covering 418 kilo meters 56 deep tubewells. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 3536 lakh. Multi Model Transport System MCL is concidering a proposal to introduce “ Multi Modal Transport System” in the city. This would include an Elevated Light Rail Transits System” (ELRTS), and abuse transport system. The projects include a 31,30 Kilometer LRT network on an elevated track of circular corridor `over Buddha Nallah and track connecting G.T road , Ferozepore, Malerkotla, Chandigarh road and Haibowal roads. Bus transport is to work as a feeder service ,with 24 designed routs and a fleet of 98 buses. Preliminary estimates points to an investment on over Rs. 1500 crores. A detail financial plan has been prepared , which includes getting funds from the government if India and International funding agencies. Upgradation of Fire Services A city like Ludhiana needs highly efficient fire services. Having modern equipment to deal with all eventualities. As per an expert study on fire safely, conducted on behalf of MCL ten fire brigade Stations equipped with ultra modern equipment need to be setup .As per the estimates, funds to the tunes of Rs. 1700 lakh are required for the up gradation for the machinery and equipment , thereby strengthening the fire wing . Additional recurring expenses of Rs. 115lakh will be required for properly staffing the dire service wing. Redevelopment of Rose Garden Nehru Rose garden, Ludhiana sprawled over an area of 30 acres was planned on November 26, 1970 and inaugurated on 14,1972. Keeping in view the changing needs of the increasing population the Rose garden is proposed to be redesigned in corpora ting all existing features with sufficient modifications. The dynamic entrance area shall have a greater visual impact with exorbitant display of rose in beds, in earthworms, on rocks, walls , in three – dimensional structures etc. This would lead to the existing ‘Ganga’ which will be given a Ghat like treatment with adequate and pleasant seating spaces along this water feature.
